People are different! They sometimes make different choices in the same situation. They can experience the same situation in different ways. They often learn, think, and feel completely differently. And people regularly cannot understand each other’s actions. But this is how it works on a large and small scale, in the office, in the family, and in relationships.
One helpful tool in navigating these differences is the 16-Personalities test. Within this test, the personality differences are classified into a total of 16 basic types, and most people are amazed to find their strengths and weaknesses summarized in their personality type.
The test is free and only takes about a quarter of an hour. The result will open your eyes – about yourself and about others. It will help you begin to understand why people’s feelings about and reactions to situations are so different. And that’s how you begin to learn to accept everyone for who they are and will allow you to communicate better in your relationships. Therefore, we recommend that you take the test and encourage the people in your life to take it as well.
You can take the test here (free of charge): https://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test
The Myers & Briggs personality model, known as the “16 Personalities”, classifies personalities according to the way we process information, make decisions, and react. It offers deep insights into different ways of thinking and helps you to better understand yourself and others. Especially when looking for the right partner, an awareness of the different personality types, and their differences and similarities, is very helpful in understanding the type of person who really suits you.
The Myers & Briggs model is based on personality distinctions in the following 4 areas:
I/E: Introversion / Extraversion – how we manage our energy
An introvert is energized by spending time alone or in small groups and tends to be more reserved and thoughtful.
Extroverts gain energy from spending time with larger groups in an active environment and tend to be more direct and expressive.
S/N: Sensing / Intuition – how we process information
Sensing (“perceiving through the senses”) describes those people who concentrate on their sensory perception and are primarily interested in what they hear, see, feel, etc. They tend to be practical.
Intuitive people tend to think on the abstract level and are primarily interested in theories, patterns, and the big picture. They tend to be more interested in the future than the present and are often perceived as creative.
T/F: Thinking / Feeling – how we make decisions
“Thinkers” make decisions in their heads. It is important for them to make the most logical decision.
“Feelers” make decisions with their hearts. It is important to them how their decisions affect others and that they correspond to their values.
J/P: Judging or Perceiving – how we structure our lives
Judging are those people who appreciate structure and order, like to plan, and tend not to like last-minute changes.
Perceiving are those people who prefer flexibility and spontaneity and like to keep things open-ended.
